ABOUT ME |
I earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Rice University in 2023, with a major in International Relations and a minor in Comparative Politics. In 2017, I obtained a BA from Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. During my undergraduate studies, I was also a visiting student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Originally, I am from Astana, Kazakhstan.
My research interests are in the area of foreign policy analysis with a focus on economic sanctions and public opinion. My current research investigates sanctions effectiveness as well as moderating effects of targets' domestic institutions. In my dissertation, I argue that target governments' can adjust their domestic and foreign policies to mitigate the costs of sanctions. Outside of academic work, I was involved with the Rice University Graduate Student Association (GSA) as a department representative, and previously I served on the GSA Wellbeing committee as a member. |
